Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
