Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
