🔗 Share this article UN:Me: A Cerebral Horror Merging Survival Horror with Social Deduction Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled several intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience seems to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the suspicion-driven core of Among Us. "This is a unique game where a girl containing several personalities inside her must escape from a maze of the mind," states developer Yasukazu Kawai. Entering a Shattered Consciousness In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Inside her reside four separate souls, all possessing their own anxieties and motivations. These souls can take over at will, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her without warning. Judging by showcased gameplay, much of the narrative takes place within a creepy hospital, though other scenes depict the main character navigating a desolate church. A World of Personal Horror "What are you afraid of? What makes you uneasy?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. Authority figures. Things that appear minor to others can activate something primal within us. This game delves into that idea — fears that are unique to every individual." The core gameplay loop involves controlling the persona that emerges at a particular moment. However, these souls will switch involuntarily as you play. During exploration, every persona's fears become exaggerated and assault the protagonist in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences. Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Decision Initially, UN:Me displays striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is populated by nurses who all share the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Figures in the waiting room have large flowers where their necks should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present theme, contrasting organic elegance with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a singular twist. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four souls inhabiting the protagonist is the "real" one. "Each of the personas asserts that the physical form is rightfully them," notes a developer. "During the game, you must determine who is authentic." Once players have deduced a soul is fake, they are forced to destroy it. But, because each soul can lie or hide the reality, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already eliminated the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration suggests. "The last one standing could be a fake. In any case, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me currently lacks a confirmed launch window, but it is available to wishlist on digital storefronts.
